The Waterloo Region Community Coalition (WRCC) is a broad coalition of the Left fighting for the empowerment of the working class. We are made up of organizations active in Waterloo Region, and work with allies both inside and outside of the Region.
We are not a political party. We are looking to develop an innovative class politics. We oppose that which is designed to absorb dissent without meaningful change, that insists upon the colonization of Indigenous communities, and that upholds the subjugation of the working class. We understand, through the perspectives of our constitutive community organizations, that a different kind of leftist politics is necessary. We aim to construct a mass movement capable of confronting and rejecting the dispossession and exploitation. We oppose the dehumanization inherent to the capitalist-imperialist and settler colonial system we live in. To this end, the WRCC is anti-imperialist and pro-decolonization in its rhetoric — we understand that it is important to operate from an analysis that addresses the systemic causes threatening our communities and that meets the demands of this historic moment.
We are not the Police, the State, or the governing municipalities. We are not managers, owners, or landlords, nor are we affluent. On the contrary, we ground ourselves first and foremost in the needs and aspirations of the oppressed and working masses, and do not seek approval or permission from the ruling class or the state apparatus for our efforts.
